When you start PortMan you will view the Main Menu:

The Menu system is designed to be self explaining and easy to use. As you can see, the choices correspond to tasks that you need to perform. If you want to add a new security to your portfolio you choose Add; if you want to calculate amortization and accretion choose Amortization. You get the point.

When you add a bond you will see a screen that looks like the picture below.

Notice how well the screen is laid out. Everything is in order and easy to find.

The Move to Page 2 button on the top of the screen displays more information about the security such as Modified Duration, interest received, interest due and accrued, book value increase or decrease, book price, market information, and disposal information.

The Move to Page 3 button displays all of the transactions that have affected this security.

CMO and MBS securities also have a fourth page which displays historical and projected cash flows.

There are six security types in PortMan. They are Bond, CMO, Mortgage Backed, Preferred Stock, Common Stock, and Short Term. Each of the security types has a screen with three pages, except CMO’s and Mortgage backed, which have a fourth page that displays projected and historical cash flows. The cash flows are viewed by choosing File, Cash Flow from the respective menu.

Posting income transactions is incredibly easy using PortMan. All securities that are scheduled to make an interest or dividend payment are displayed in a Pick List when you choose Transactions, Income from the Main Menu. Type a "Y" in the Post column to indicate that received the expected income amount.
